Thakkali chutney | தக்காளி சட்னி | Tomato Chutney

Thakkali chutney is my all-time favorite chutney :). This tasty chutney is a combo of onions, tomatoes and spices. 

Ingredients :-

 Tomatoes (roughly chopped)     3  
 Onions (roughly chopped)   1    ¼ cup
 Red or Green chillies   5  
 Tamarind    gooseberry size  
 Cumin    1 tsp 
 Coriander seeds   1 tsp 
 Curry leaves   few 
 Coriander leaves (optional)   few
 Salt to taste
Method :-
------------
1). Heat oil in a pan, add cumin, coriander seeds and curry leaves and saute. Add onions, red chillies  and saute till transparent.
2). Then add red chillies, tomatoes and saute till it becomes soft. Switch off and let it cool completely. Transfer it to mixer along with tamarind and salt, and grind.
Seasoning is optional. Serve it with Idli or dosa. It goes well with all South-Indian tiffin varieties.

Notes :-

# You can add little water while grinding if you feel its very thick.
# Adjust the salt and spices to suit your taste.
