Masala Chapathi aromatic and flavorful chapathi. It is nothing but colorful chapathis with the blend of spices. This chapathi is a very good alternate for the regular chapathi's. Also, it can be relished without any side-dish. This is an ideal lunch-box recipe.
You can prepare this when you are not interested in making elaborated meals.
Wheat flour - 2 cups ;
Curd - 1tbsp ;
Chilli powder - 1tsp ;
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp ;
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp ;
Amchur powder - 1/2 tsp (optional) ;
Cumin powder - 1 tsp ;
Salt to taste ;
Gingelly oil - 1tsp ;
Oil/Ghee to toast;
1). Combine all the powders with curd, wheat flour and salt. Add oil and combine together by adding water, little by little. Form a soft pliable dough and rest it for at-least 30minutes.
2). Divide them into equal lemon sized balls, dust flour and roll them into thin discs without cracks.
3). Heat a pan, add the chapathi, drizzle ghee/oil and cook the chapathi until even brown spots appear on both the sides & then remove.
Masala chapathi is ready ! It makes a comforting meal by itself so just serve warm with simple Raita.
# Substitute cumin powder with cumin seeds.
# Alter the spice levels to suit your taste.
# You can also add Kasoori Methi for flavor. Just crush it in your palms and mix with the powders.
# You can also include mashed boiled veggies to it. I wanted to make it simple it with handy ingredients so I avoided.
# My Aunt's Tip :- Include Methi leaves / Spinach for a flavorful & healthy version.
