Happy Vinayagar Chathurthi | விநாயகர் சதுர்த்தி

Wish you all a very Happy and Blessed "Vinayagar Chaturthi ! "
Vinayagar Chathurthi, the great Ganesha festival, also known as 'Pillaiyar Chathurthi ' or 'Ganesh Chaturthi' or 'Vinayaka Chavithi' is celebrated by Hindus around the world as the birthday of Lord Vinayaka.

Ganesha is identified with the Supreme Self, It is believed that Lord Ganesh bestows his presence on earth for all his devotees during this festival. Ganesha is widely worshiped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune and traditionally invoked at the beginning of any new venture or at the start of travel.

Celebrations :-
People bring home Idols of Lord Ganesha and celebrate the festival by worshiping the Lord in a special way for a day and a half, 5 days, 7 days or 11 days depending on the family tradition and commitment of each individual. On the last day of worship the idol is taken out in a colourful and musical procession to be immersed traditionally at a beach.
His blessings are invoked at most religious ceremonies as He is the one who can remove all obstacles to success. He is the giver of fortune and can help to avoid natural calamities.

Pooja Rituals :-

Ganesha chaturthi is celebrated around the country as Lord Ganesha is the remover of Obstacles.

Preparations :-
# On the previous day evening, clean the pooja room and decorate with Mango leaves.

# Collect the leaves for the Archana along with the flowers and sugarcane piece, as he is the Elephant God.
# Dhruva aka trefoil (arugam pull) and erukkam poo maalai are important.
# Decorate the wooden plank or manai by putting the kolam and welcome Pillayaar in this.
# Lord Ganesha’s moorti (or a big framed photo), preferable to have an idol made out of turmeric powder. Take a plantain leaf or a plate with rice, to place the ganesha.

Procedure :-

# Devotees try performing the rituals of Ganesh Chaturthi Pooja with a clean body and pure mind and heart.
 # On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, devotees take ritual bath, wear new clothes and get ready to perform the Vinayaka Chaturthi Pooja.
# Then, the beautiful clay or turmeric idol of Lord Ganesha is brought to the house from the entrance (as we welcome Varalakshmi). Then the idol is placed properly on a platform or manai.
# The idol is then beautified with veshti (dhoti), poonal (sacred thread), fresh flower garlands and sandalwood paste.
# Keep the neivediyams and start the pooja. (laddu, moadakam of sweet/ kaaram, kozhukattai, sundal, appam, aval, pori, vadai, payasam along with varieties of fruits).
1. Purna Kumbha Kalasha Sthapana :
# Before invoking Lord Ganesha, a kalash i.e. the earthen or brass pot filled with holy water is established with the rice kept down the kalash.# For those who do not know any slogas, chant this simple mantra and get the blessings.

Vakra tunda maha karya
surya koti sama prabha
nirvignamgurume deva
sarva karyeshu sarvada

Also a simple chanting of the slokas would do apart from the pushpa archana by saying OM, SREE GANESHAYA NAMAHA:// 108 times.
